The map shows changes to the town of Poleham from 1980 to 2010.
Overall, the town underwent significant changes, particularly with the expansion of residential housing units.
In 1980, in the south of the town adjacent to the east side of the River Stoke, farmland ran parallel all the way up to the post office situated in the center of town; however, by 2010, the farmland had been replaced by houses, and likewise, housing had also been developed along the main road. On the east side of the main road coming from the south and before the post office, there were three large houses situated well back from the road and within a gardened area that by 2010 had been replaced by a retirement home.
Moving further north along the main road and past the post office, on the east side of the road is a primary school, which after 1980 had been extended with two new wings attached to the main school. Further north, and before the bridge, and still existing in 2010, there again used to be farmland on the east side of the main road, though, by 2010 this had been replaced by more residential units.
During this period, a sizable amount of farmland had disappeared and replaced with houses and residential roads.
